“Art in the Park” – Sunday 8th July 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m.

This is a family afternoon event in Fassnidge Park, Uxbridge, which runs along by the River Frays.

There will be a band playing from 2 till 4 in the bandstand, which is next to the Rusty Bike cafe. The band “Chasing Deer” will be playing outside Uxbridge Underground Station on Sunday morning and will then come to Fassnidge Park to play for us.
The event is free, but there will be an opportunity to contribute to the band or purchase one of their cd’s.

People are asked to bring their own chairs.
There will be tables with some very simple arty/crafty activities for children.
We obviously hope it will not rain, but the band will be in the dry and will still be playing.  We will come armed with plastic sheets for the tables if the rain is intermittent, but if it is really bad, we may have to abandon the children’s activities and everyone hide in the Cafe!
There is pedestrian access off the Oxford Road, opposite the “Ship” building (The Quays – Parexel). One can walk down from the car parks in the city centre. The main entrance is from Rockingham Parade. That end is where the children’s swings etc are. The bandstand is in the middle of the park, within easy view of the swings but not really close enough to leave children unattended while relaxing in a deckchair to listen to the band!

“Inspired by a Poem” – 19th October to 1st November 2018

We will be hanging this exhibition on the morning of Friday 19th October, and taking it down at the end of the day on Thursday 1st November.

Each piece of art will have been inspired by a piece of poetry, and will be exhibited alongside the text, with an explanation by the artist of what moved them in the particular piece. The relevant books will be on display nearby for people to dip into, or borrow.

This is part of Hillingdon Borough’s annual “Culture Bite” Festival.

The exhibition is free, and is open during normal library hours:
Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
