Les makes porcelain and stoneware functional and sculptural pieces. He fires them to cone 12 in a propane gas kiln and, to give a wide range of colours and surface finishes, oxygen levels are monitored and controlled during glaze firing.
Work are sold via exhibitions, galleries, craft fairs, commissions and shops.
He researched materials for many years before becoming a full-time potter in 2003. Ceramics training was via classes and courses at Harrow, Ealing, Langley and Brunel.
His current investigations are concerned with glaze development and with archaeological, ethnological and sculptural resources to inform the design of his functional and sculptural pieces.
